Just for the heck of it...

Best shashlik in town, and cold Baltika on tap! Just go up those rickety old stairs:

Heading to the game:

30 seconds into the game:

Two minutes into the game:

Coach looking all dapper in Versace and sneakers:

End of the game. The crowd is chanting vulgarities in English (note the handful of Rubin fans in their own section on the far left):

Man, I wanna go home...

The Refs really blew this one.

Rubin is a big, strong, hard-hitting team, while my Luch were faster, quicker, and more skilled with the ball.
The crowd was into it:

The game wasn’t five minutes old and Rubin had already earned three yellow cards. One of our guys got back on the field and limped around just long enough to be replaced. About 30 seconds later, the replacement made it 1-0:

A few missed opportunities from both sides, and we were in the 93rd minute. The guy on the sideline missed a blatant offside call and Rubin scored an easy goal. A few seconds later, the same guy called offside on a brilliant Luch play that was clearly onside, and the goal was called off.
Final score:

The crowd started shouting something in English. A well-known, three word chant about having sex with the Ref. Even the kids were getting into it. Then the Refs came over to the tunnel to leave and got pelted with sunflower seeds. The Militsia started coming up with pepper spray and batons, so I decided to go the other way. Ain’t lookin’ for no trouble...
So my Luch-Energia was robbed of 2 points to help stave off relegation. They are currently in the third from last place.
It was a beautiful day to be in Vlad, though.

Dinamo Moskva is coming to town next week. Too bad I’ll miss it, but I am extremely glad to be going home to see my beautiful girlfriend.
